Feeling good in one’s skin and taking care of our physical appearance has become an important daily habit for the majority of people. Over many years the conscious consumer has become increasingly wary of certain synthetic chemical ingredients that are inside some cosmetics and toiletries and have decided to take great care of what they allow on their skin.
As a result, many new beauty brands and retailers have grouped together to supply safe, natural cosmetic products. To be referred to as truly Organic, all plants should be grown without pesticides, chemicals or artificial fertilisers or at the minimum of between 95% – 100% chemical free. The compounds that a leaf uses to keep itself green or a raspberry use to stay red and juicy can have real benefits on our skin.
More and more, consumers are purchasing for ethics and values over brand heritage or prestige. In the age of the ethical consumer, brands are finding that status and branding no longer hold as much sway as purpose and principles. But there is another label that is not necessarily green but nonetheless becoming ever more recognised. It is “Halal.”
Halal beauty, which is also ethical, organic and vegan is making great strides in the global makeup and skincare market
When we refer to halal products in respect of the skin and makeup arena, we are talking of products that only contain “permissible” ingredients, which means no animal products and no alcohol,
In reality Halal skincare and cosmetics should be cruelty-free and use only vegan brands, as it denotes that animals should never be harmed for the sake of beauty.
Ultimately, all these factors combined with the global movement to “Clean Beauty “is excellent for the “Halal” cosmetic industry and is very attractive to Muslims and non-Muslims alike.
Additionally, a healthy lifestyle and well-being are often equated with the all-natural approach to beauty, keeping the body hydrated, both from the inside by drinking enough water and by sticking to the skin routine. Fitting their skin’s needs ranks very high on the list of priorities.
Rather than instinctively reaching for something labelled “natural” be sure to check that the products are free from fragrances, dyes, parables, and preservatives… or just simply Halal.
