Ethereal Hues: Elie Saab

Elie Saab presented his haute couture fall-winter 2022-2023 collection at Carreau du Temple, a huge glass and metal structure which is bathed in light due to its impressive glass roof.

Once again Elie Saab took our breath away as this season’s show opened with an impressive red and black feathered cutaway gown. The second outfit was worn by a male model and was just as dramatic sporting a huge red and black feathered  voluminous cape which was worn on top of a black velvet tuxedo suit.

This was the first time that Elie Saab had presented menswear; especially during haute couture, but this season he took the step to design statement pieces for both men and women and an impressive statement it was for both. We were transported to a world where the elegance of men is free to express itself.

The collection is inspired by nature and in particular those poetic moments before the sunset. The couturier hoped to portray in each garment the power and grace of a setting sun in constant evolution. Each piece represents the designer’s unique interpretation of the disappearance of light over the horizon. The colour palette consisted of Ethereal hues ranging from soft nudes, pink, grey, silver and violet encompassing red and black. Breathtaking luxurious fabrics designed with ultimate attention to detail. The embellished hand beaded dresses were simply gorgeous; they gleamed and sparked under the light, shimmering silhouettes with perfect draping.

Elie Saab is renowned for his show-stopping, red carpet gowns with lasting beauty and relevance and this show was nothing short of that.
