Mervana Alshreef: From Archeology to Perfumery

She holds a Master’s degree of Archeology and Museums from the College of Tourism of King Saud University. After working in the field of marketing and arts, Mervana decided to embark on a passion project and establish the Al Hashemiah brand for perfumes.

Mervana, where did the idea of your perfume brand Al Hashemiah come from?

The idea was there since I was a young girl, but I started working on it during the preparation phase of my daughter’s wedding when I was seeking a special scent.

How would you resume what the brand stands for?

My brand stands for the Al Hashemiah tribe and what is unique about it is that we only produce Arabic and French scents. We have many offers especially during the Saudi National Day, the Eid and more.

And what makes it different from the competition?

Our perfume scents last longer; for about three days on clothes and eight hours on the skin. Our prices are available for all.

In your opinion, why are Oriental fragrances becoming popular?

Because they resemble our past and unite our future.

Tell us more about your philanthropic activities and your support for cancer patients…

I provide moral support for cancer patients. I can relate to them since I am a cancer survivor myself. I also donate a part of the proceeds of Al Hashemiah to charities.

You are active in the tourism field. What are your thoughts about the promising sector in Saudi Arabia?

The most important thing is to consider spreading archaeological awareness to the public and young children.

And what are some of your favorite cities in Saudi Arabia?

AlUla the city of archeology and Taif the city of flowers which is famous for special scents we employ in our brand.

Finally, what are your upcoming plans?

I aspire to become a global brand.
