Balenciaga, the famous French luxury brand has returned to the haute couture calendar after 53 years. Artistic Director Demna Gvasalia, presented his first Couture fashion show for Balenciaga since the legacy house closed in 1968.
Demna who is originally from Georgia has been designing the ready wear for Balenciaga for the last six years. Sixty-three looks were presented in front of a select VIP audience. Marking the 50th show for the Maison.
The show was held in the original Balenciaga Couture salons which had been restored for the occasion. Sixty-three looks were showcased which included a mix of men’s and women’s suits, tailored jackets and oversized designs characterized by being distinctly modern. Balenciaga Couture presented models wearing architecture-inspired cocktail dresses with large glossy black hats – certainly an impactful event for the fashion elite.
