As we enter a season dominated by Loewe knits and Gucci’s newly released love-hate fuzzy sandals, we delve into the “cherry-on-top,” of said looks – the jewellery. Specifically, we offer guidance for that moment when your cashmere jumper accidentally crawls up to reveal a little diamond perching wrist action. While stacking is not a novel means of styling bracelets, the modus operandi of placing pieces in a visually sensical manner is an ever-evolving endeavour. An equation that is, part acquired taste and part borrowing the basics of proportion and colouring, one’s bracelet assemblage offers a glimpse into the wearer’s state of mind and their interpretation of outfit elevation. We share tried and tested methods to master your bracelet curation this Fall/Winter.
The “One-and-Done” Method
The ultimate cheat code in which wearers can achieve visual impact with minimal effort – introducing the sorcery of cuffs. Here the piece does all the talking while occupying the space of, what would have otherwise been, an effortful stacking conquest. An analysis of Versace, Brandon Maxwell, Prabal Gurung and Bibhu Mohapatra runways quickly reveal that the cleopatra reminiscent accessory is yet again, this season’s protagonist. Styled as a duo or worn over cable knits, the cuff has the ability to provide an edited appeal to an outfit or can be used as a tool to dramatise a look by injecting one’s aesthetic with pizzazz.
The “Eclectic” Method
Translating one of the most prominent trends of Fall/Winter shows, mismatched earrings, (as portrayed by the likes of Zimmerman, Gucci, Tory Burch, Fendi and Luisa Spanoli) in bracelet terms, equates to an eclectic curation approach. The styling philosophy is rooted in adopting a broad-ranging lens to combine a diverse assortment of pieces together, to bring about aesthetic unison. To begin, we recommend opting for a hero piece, that is a bracelet or bangle that occupies center stage (or the center of the wrist rather). Subsequently, determine the neighbouring pieces by considering varying thicknesses and finishes for a truly textured feel. This may include delicate pearls, juxtaposed by a statement chain, the addition of a fancy cut tennis bracelet, throwing in the cool feel of a brushed gold piece and a coloured stone bracelet for burst of colour to finish.
The “Daily Uniform” Method
Here the criteria for which bracelets are deemed eligible for one’s jewellery repertoire is based on their “anchoring” function – subtle enough to meld into every outfit seamlessly yet actively binding an outfit’s different elements together. This may include a fuss-free classic gold bangle and a dainty chain resting next to a few single stone solitaire bracelets. We recommend avoiding colourful pieces when adopting this styling method to ensure the versatility of your selection. This type of curation provides a polished finish to a given aesthetic, yet comfortably nestles in the background (not completely admittedly – it is jewellery after all).
